Lady post

Not asking for too much detail but, have any of you tried glad rags and/or the diva cup type products? Just throwing this out there to see if you would recommend or not if you have since I'm considering trying both types.

Here at work this morning I had yet another customer explain to me how to count money. Whenever this happens, it is always a man.

It is so frustrating, especially since I have to be nice.

New Doctor

Went to see a new lady dr today. It wasn't terrible and she was a kajillion times better than the wee troll I saw when I was pregnant with Nicky.

In related news it takes me about 20 min to fill out my medical history and associated medications.

On the plus side this dr was totally like, "Hey you have to be careful with Motrin, so if you have bad monthly pain let me know and I'll get you some Tylenol with Codeine."

Nice.

I'm not the type to abuse prescription drugs but, sure I'll have some codeine if your offering.

I also got my first mammogram order. Fun times!

You know at the time it seemed like a good idea to set a new stricter budget right before Christmas shopping season. Now I'm not so sure I'll be able to stick to it. Perhaps for motivation I should just duct tape all the balances for our various bills to my wallet.

Moar kittens!

So Bolt and Emmie are doing lovely and have fit in just perfectly at our home and with the whole fam including 13 year old kitty senior, Henry.

They also have a new sister (and the last kitten I'll be adopting for awhile)! Her name is Nancy which is short for Cap'n Nan Whiteboots. She deserved an awesome name because the family she was born into are a pack of monsters and left her and the rest of her litter out in the wet and cold in a box. By the time they were found, all were sick and sporting various stages of eye infections and our poor Nan lost her right eye to infection. So she's now our beloved pirate kitty.

Sailing the seas on the good ship Cable Box.

Photos courtesy of her daddy who is already beyond smitten with our cap'n.

Kittens

So my trip to a BARCS event at Petco paid off. I came home with a beautiful little girl that we've named Ember, or Emmie for short and an energetic little boy named, Bolt.

Emmie

Bolt

It was a fantastic experience, everyone was so friendly, I definitely recommend this type of adoption event if you are in the position to adopt a cat or kitten.

I got to hold another sweet baby, a very petite gray tabby girl who due to extreme neglect lost her right eye to conjunctivitis. She goes this week or next to have her spaying surgery and to have the final stitching done to her missing eye socket and as soon as she is healed and of weight she is coming home to live with me.

Bolt, our gorgeous gray boy, was actually returned to BARCS the day of the event so I think it was fate that I was right there to snatch him up. Anyone who has ever visited my house and kitties, knows that he has certainly found his forever home with us. I can't even imagine his former adopters reasoning for returning him because he is just so sweet and incredibly affectionate. Their loss is def our gain.

Things

Things are ok for now. On blood thinners forever per the specialist. My clotting is due to anti phospholipid syndrome. Basically my immune system is making my blood clot. Since it has been killing my thyroid for about six years now, this new auto immune disease is not surprising. I'm also being tested for lupus just in case since APS sometimes hangs out with lupus.

Paul graduates on the 22nd which is a relief. Grad school has been hard on all of us, especially Paul but still tough. Now we get to see all the lovely student loans come due. It will be worth it though, retail was killing him.

The kids are good. Nicky still doesn't sleep through the night. I gave up and he sleeps with me now once he wakes up the first time in his own bed. Sleep is lovely, though I look forward to him being old enough to bribe, coerce, or instruct into his own bed for a full night.

We are actively dieting again, hopefully with the stresses of grad school soon to be behind us, it will stick this time.

That's about as much as my wrist can take since I'm posting on my phone. So here's some pics of Sophia's first communion that was last weekend.

So Book List 2012 is pretty unimpressive since my time to read was limited at best and I'm 100% sure that I've read more books and didn't update my list. Either way, here are the VERY few that made it to the list:

1. The Awful Secret- Bernard Knight
2. The Tinner’s Corpse- Bernard Knight
3. The Grim Reaper- Bernard Knight
4. A Rogue By Any Other Name- Sarah Maclean
5. Confessions of a Yakuza-
6.... Yakuza Moon- Shoko Tendo
7. Four Sisters All Queens- Sherry Jones
8. Equal to the Sun- Anita Amirazvani
9. The Second Empress- Michelle Moran
10. Some Girls- Jillian Lauren
11. Silver- Rhiannon Held
12. Kingdom of Strangers- Zoe Ferraris

Book List 2013 already has 2 books on it so I'm pretty sure that this is going to be a much better book year especially since Nick is a toddler now and one would assume that he would have no choice but to sleep through the night sometime this year...hopefully.

Christopher T. Hanson, a professor at the University of Maryland, College Park and an expert on public perception of the media and crime, said there is "clearly a pattern of more intensive coverage of abductions involving white young women, particularly if they are in the upper middle class or of a higher social status."
